2016 Conference - Washington DC
Friday, January 22, 1:30PM - 5:30PM
Note: All post tours must have a minimum of 6 registrants to be held.
Option 1: Arlington National Cemetery / Iwo Jima Memorial (walking/metro)
This afternoon you will have the opportunity to enjoy a walking tour of Arlington National Cemetery. It is America's shrine to valor and sacrifice. We'll visit JFK's grave and experience the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We'll take a short walk from Arlington National Cemetery to the United States Marine Corps Memorial, one of the largest bronze statues ever cast. This memorial commemorates all the Marines who have died in battle since 1775 and is based upon the famous photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal during World War II.
Option 2: George Washington's Mount Vernon (Van)
A visit to DC would not be complete with visiting Mount Vernon - George and Martha Washington's home - but also a host of colonial era buildings, beautiful gardens and our museum and education center. There's so much more to see here...it's not to be missed.
Option 3: DC Highlights & Memorials (Van)
Washington's monuments, memorials and museums can make what to do and see a huge task. This tour serves as the perfect introduction to our Nation's Capital. This four-hour tour will not only take you past the United States Capitol and the White House for a photo opportunity, but you will also have time to visit the major memorials to include the WWII Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial as well as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the FDR Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial.
